How to Hand Process Cashmere in Minutes

One big myth about raw cashmere is that it needs lots of processing before you can spin it.

Many handspinners feel nervous about buying raw cashmere because they're afraid they'll ruin an expensive fiber. We get it.

The good news is that quality cashmere is much easier to work with than most people think.

In this video I show how I prepare our raw cashmere for spinning. It turns out that quality cashmere is much easier to work with than most people think!

Keep in mind that the fleece quality makes a big difference in how long it will take to prep. In the video, I showed a very hairy fleece that is more difficult to dehair than the average fleece. When customers request raw cashmere from us, we send only the best, cleanest parts of every fleece. This means that our customers can get to the spinning part much quicker since they’re starting with cashmere that has low vegetable matter and guard hair content.
