100% Authentic Cashmere
Known as “The Fiber of Kings,” Cashmere is an ultra fine, luxury fiber that Cashmere goats produce to stay warm in winter. The goats shed this undercoat in the Spring and we harvest it by combing. Most goats produce an undercoat but most goats’ fiber does not meet the standard for cashmere which states the fiber must be at least 1.25” in length, under 19 microns, and consistent.

Cashmere is fine but forgiving and easy to spin. If it has good structure (we call this “style” in technical terms), it should take and hold twist very well

We recommend not washing your cashmere until after it’s been spun. Since ashmere does not have lanolin, it is perfectly fine to run it through a carder or spinning wheel unwashed. In fact, several large cashmere brands don’t wash their cashmere until after it’s turned into yarn.
If you do choose to wash your cashmere prior to spinning we recommend soaking as cashmere felts very easily when wet. -
Pilling or neps happen because short, lower quality fiber gets mixed in with the longer, stronger fiber. This is common in large scale manufacturing. While we do sell our fleeces “raw” we do pick the best parts and discard the rest to ensure you get the best cuts.

We do a lot of the dehairing work for you so you as the spinner can spend less time prepping your fiber and more time spinning it. That said, do expect some minimal-moderate guard hair content in the fiber. We have several tutorials on how to remove the guard hairs.
