The 100th Goat

Our bonfire and Campground site on the farm

We thought we ended the kidding season at 99 goats and so I was ready to make a parody version of the Jay-Z song “99 Problems.” It was going to go something like this: “I got 99 problems and a sheep ain’t one!”

Then, on the hottest, most humid evening of this year, I stumbled upon a surprising discovery. Trixie, our yearling silver doe, was hanging out by our camping and bonfire area by herself. “That’s odd,” I thought. I got closer and that’s when I saw a black fuzzy animal hiding under a pallet. I peeked underneath the pallet, reached, and pulled out an adorable black doeling with a big white star stamped on her head. A total cutie!

The surprise doeling.

Many kids have been born here but finding a new baby still feels like striking gold. Moreover, this little doeling is special because she’s the 100th goat on our farm! Since she was born on a camground, we decided to name her Koa. I guess I can’t make that “99 Problems” parody now that I have one extra goat!
